Moroccan Mackerel Shark Tooth Fossil

Mackerel is an extinct shark that lived approximately 60 to 45 million years ago. It is estimated that these sharks reached lengths of 30 feet with its teeth being up to 10 centimeters long. These fossil shark teeth are collected as a by-product of phosphate mining operations. Phosphate bearing rocks are mined in open pits by dynamite, and after the blast, collectors rush in to gather the fossils.

Each piece is unique, and will vary in size, color, and pattern, from the ones shown here.

Brought from the Saharan desert in Morocco, sold exclusively at Jamali Garden.
